Nowadays, it is increasingly common to automate irrigation, and there are numerous solutions designed specifically for irrigation installations, which are increasingly more affordable and adapted to the needs of each garden or farm. To ensure optimum handling, operation and control of our irrigation system, it is essential to install automation systems.
What is an automatic irrigation system?
An automated irrigation system is a set of structures that together provide water to our gardens or farms in a technified way, increasing the efficiency of irrigation, allowing savings and optimisation of water resources, saving time and also allowing management of the irrigation process from any place and independently of the schedule or the need for a person to supervise it in person.
This irrigation method consists of different components, depending on the type of irrigation system to which it is adapted: surface irrigation system, drip irrigation system or a sprinkler irrigation system.
The fundamental part of an automatic watering system is the watering programmer, electronic devices that automate the whole watering process allowing: to establish watering cycles according to schedules, duration and frequency. The most important thing is that the definition of this watering cycle can be totally customised by the user and can be adjusted to the weather and/or schedules with the lowest energy price.
The model that we choose for our farm will depend fundamentally on the area of cultivation, and the zoning of crops on our property: the irrigation programmer for a garden will not have the same characteristics as an irrigation programmer for an agricultural property; likewise, an agricultural property dedicated to several crops will need an irrigation programmer capable of controlling several cultivation areas.
