«Drip irrigation enables us to carry out fertigation. In one action, we cover the needs of the crops: irrigation and nutrition.»

Fertigation is the water supply stage that enables us to adjust the amount of liquid (water or mixture of water and fertiliser) that enters the distribution system.

It is an important part of our irrigation system, since it enables us to be more sustainable: it allows us to adjust the dose of irrigation to increase efficiency without using a drop more than is required.

The use of fertigation provides considerable advantages:

0.1

The water and nutrients are pinpointed to the root-absorption area.

0.2

Different fertilisation plans can be established in line with the phenological stage of the crop or depending on the nutrient absorption curve.

0.3

Ability to correct any nutritional defficiency in the crop quickly.

0.4

Use of water with a low agronomic quality with proper handling and the required knowledge.

0.5

High dependence of the crop on the irrigation system and therefore a greater control over the crop. We will be able to increase or reduce the speed of growth as desired. We will also be able to use RDI (Regulated Deficit Irrigation)

0.6

A more rational use of water and fertilisers contributes to protecting the environment and a minimal environmental impact

Factors to bear in mind when setting up fertigation

> Know the nutritional needs of the crops.

> Distribution of fertilisation percentages throughout the crop cycle (in the case of quantitative fertigation).

> Characteristics of the water used (pH, electrical conductivity, etc.).

> Know how to operate with the change from FU units (fertiliser units) to kilogrammes of fertiliser.
